GOAL

The purposes of the proposed workshop are:

  1. To introduce leading fire ecologists, functional ecologists and experts in eucalypt phylogeny to recent research on the anatomy of Myrtaceae axillary buds and epicormic structures by Burrows and his associates.
  2. To consider the evolutionary and ecological significance of these patterns.
  3. To discuss the relative advantages and disadvantages of post-fire epicormic resprouting (as opposed to basal resprouting) and to prepare reviews and opinion pieces.
