This working group is run in collaboration with US/NSF National Evolutionary Synthesis Center. This first meeting was held at their headquarters in North Carolina, USA. It was divided into three sessions as follows:

A. 19-22 March 2007: (WG 27A) Wood density databases: To coordinate among several multi-species wood density databases that are currently being assembled by different people.

B. 21-22 March 2007: (WG 27B) From Phylogenies to Climate envelopes: To develop informatics procedures and workflows for associating species with geographical locations and with climate and soil envelopes, and integrating
those into phylogenetic divergence analyses.

C. 23-24 March 2007: (WG 27C) Future directions in wood anatomy: To discuss the potential for interpreting wood-anatomic traits across many species, especially in ecological, evolutionary, and physiological (e.g., hydraulics, mechanical support and stem persistence) contexts.
