The aim of this project is to identify a short list (perhaps 200-300 pages altogether) of influential papers for understanding Australian vegetation. These would be combined with some guiding commentary and links to other sources, and made available as a website for use in teaching and postgraduate discussion.
Following some email interaction, an informal evening discussion was held at ESA2005 in Brisbane on 1st Dec 2005. Arising from this, a list of prospective papers suggested by different people was drawn up. This has been circulated to participants, and an informal polling process has identified some papers that would be ranked highly by most people, and some issues for discussion.
The working group met in late September 2006. Draft material was generated for the website, and a website was designed at the same time. The current situation (February 2007) is that the materials need to be assembled at the website, and this draft version circulated to participants for comment. Arising from that, a list of further tasks will be developed, and a further meeting of the working group will be called to carry them out.
